New business:
Bring a meeting into Odyssey House
Should sharing be contained to only members who have more than 1 year of sobriety?
Jonathan shared his experience bringing meetings into jails and that in their structure they (the people with more time) would share first, and then the jail attendees would share after them)
Should Albie be selective about who is brought with us into the treatment center? Or is it open to whoever wants to come and share their story?
Jonathan shared that Albie shouldn’t be selective, it should be open to whoever is willing to share their story.
Austin R says that maybe some selection is necessary. Suggested Albie is the one who assigns who is in charge of the meeting on any given week. If he assigns Austin, Austin is responsible for who comes to the meeting on one week.
Edward asked the committee to clarify what our purpose is for bringing this meeting into the treatment center. Edward worried that we might not generate enough interest in participating and that it’s possible we don’t get anyone that wants to bring the meeting into the treatment center.
James clarified that the whole vision behind the initiative was to have something to announce at the other CMA meetings when we’re asking them to participate in Area.
With that, Edward thinks that we should be less restrictive/selective.
James motioned that the committee empowers Albie to develop this meeting as he sees fit (with all the stipulations that he can seek input and guidance from any member of the committee). After a month, Albie will report on the meetings progress and seek input and guidance from the rest of the committee.
Finn was wondering if we want to try to plan a CMA event. The committee expressed informal support for a small event.
Austin R suggested cookie decorating for the holidays. Something small that can be low-key.
Edward expressed that it would be cool to announce to groups that, in addition to this event we have planning, we’re looking for people to help plan events.
