Summary of Area Business Meeting (April 9, 2026)

Administrative Reports

  • Treasury Report: Only transaction during the month was a reimbursement to Jonathan for tee time expenses of $102.39. Treasury balance stands at $2,299.22
  • Literature Report: The pamphlet of the month was PINO (Public Information and Outreach), covering outreach methods, anonymity, member involvement, and public communication about CMA. 

Main Topic: Founders Day Spaghetti Dinner

The majority of the meeting focused on planning a Founders Day Spaghetti Dinner fellowship event.

Purpose

  • The event is intended as a fellowship and community-building gathering
  • The spaghetti dinner tradition comes from early CMA history, where spaghetti was used as an inexpensive way to feed large groups. 

Ideas and Discussion

  • Utah-themed additions such as funeral potatoes and Jell-O dishes were suggested. 
  • Brad volunteered to help cook and noted his experience with Italian cuisine. 
  • The group discussed the need to estimate attendance to determine:
    • Venue size
    • Food quantities
    • Volunteer needs 

Venue Selection

Several parks were considered, including:

  • Sugar House Park
  • Murray Park
  • Fairmont Park 

After reviewing availability, the group decided on:

Venue: Lakeside Pavilion at Sugar House Park
Date: Sunday, September 13, 2026
Reservation Time: 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM

The reservation was successfully booked during the meeting.

  • Coordinate venue and posting logistics. 

Outstanding Items for Future Meetings

The group agreed they still need to:

  • Finalize the menu.
  • Recruit volunteers.
  • Plan outreach efforts.
  • Identify and schedule a speaker.
  • Develop a detailed event program and activities. 

Key Outcome

The meeting’s biggest accomplishment was securing the venue and date for the Founders Day event: September 13, 2026, at the Lakeside Pavilion in Sugar House Park from 4 PM–10 PM.
