Minutes:
James reported on a visit to the CMA meeting in Provo and that they’re interested in helping with area. There is only one other online meeting left to visit. Now people just need to visit the meetings and announce the monthly meetings and invite people to participate.
Randy reported that members in Clean, Sober, and Proud expressed concern about how area was run last time and wanted there to be more transparency this time. It was discussed that in this iteration of area general services transparency can be prioritized. Discussed using a Utah area website to act as a repository for business meeting minutes, financial reports, etc. to accomplish this goal for greater transparency.
Jonathan presented on the Utah Area CMA website that he has started to get set up. He’s referenced Oregon’s area website. Discussed that the website might not have a schedule of meetings since crystalmeth.org has that function. Jonathan wanted to have a schedule of events and provided the example that Utah Alano club has a Saturday speaker meeting where some CMA speakers sometimes share their story, which might be of interest to the fellowship in Utah.
Randy wanted to provide a schedule of meetings for CMA to various treatment centers around the state. Jonathan talked about how there is a committee for H&I. Jonathan provided the CMA service manual and advised that we should review it. Jonathan started to review the various possible committees for area services and quickly summarized information in the service manual.
James presented the bylaws provided by Oregon Area CMA and suggested that the positions of president, secretary, delegate, and communications chair be filled temporarily by the current body of area until there are more participants. Each month during the business meeting new elections will be held and positions filled when new participants in area show up each month. Established that there are 9 positions that need to be filled, and the hope is that each group send a GSR and have a backup GSR.
Randy was selected to temporarily fill the position of secretary, until such time that one can be elected. James is temporarily filling the president and delegate position, until such time that one can be elected. Jonathan was unanimously elected as communications chair.
It was decided that positions will be filled until the end of the year, or until the adoption of bylaws that specify when new elections will be held.
New business:
Discussion about splitting up visiting the various CMA groups to announce area’s creation, why it’s beneficial to participate, and invite people to join and participate at the next monthly business meeting, the second Tuesday of October at 7 PM.
Randy volunteered to attend Learning to Live, and Monday Night Like Family and can also visit the Wednesday Hump Day CMA
James volunteered the In the Clear group in Ogden. Old School CMA, Birthday Group, (James is going to text the woman that runs the group).
